Subgroup Leader of Island Plant Ecology
Keywords
The “Island Plant Ecology Group” includes 2 senior researchers (integrated members) (the leader, Auxiliary Professor at Azores University, and a post-doctoral researcher) and one field and laboratory technician. We are responsible for the Azores University Herbarium (AZU) and for the co-coordination of the ATLANTIS 3.1 database (vascular plants).
Research activity is focused on understanding the ecology of native island plant communities, with special emphasis on forests, and the conservation and management of native ecosystems. We are involved in several national and international research projects focusing our research on community ecology, vegetation dynamics, and impact of invasive species and climate change on plant biodiversity and vegetation distribution.
