Rui Andrade

PhD Student

Rui Andrade is conducting a Ph.D. in Biology by the University of Azores starting in 2023 within the IBBC of cE3c. He is conducting the project Contribution for the Assessment of Impacts of Global Changes on Azorean Flora, under the supervision of Rui Miguel Pires Bento da Silva Elias & Rosalina Maria de Almeida Gabriel (cE3c – Centre for Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Changes/Azorean Biodiversity Group and Universidade dos Açores). Contribution for the Assessment of Impacts of Global Changes on Azorean Flora project aims are:

1 - Climate changes (assess if due to global rise of temperature, some species increase their altitudinal distribution);

2 - Invasive species (assess if these species increase their abundance due to climate changes and/or lack of control);

3 - Habitat changes (verify, among the monitored ecossystems, changes in: community flora; turnover pattern of species in altitude; homogeneization of species in the Bryophyta group).
