Ecology of Environmental Change - eChanges

Adriana Silva

Researcher

Forest Ecology Spatial Analysis Restoration Ecology

I received a Ph.D. in Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon in 2022 and I am currently working in the Ecology of Environmental Changes group (eChanges) of cE3c. My research focuses on studying the impact of environmental conditions, mainly microclimate, on two dominant tree species of the Mediterranean dryland forests, the Holm oak and Cork oak. I have been particularly interested in quantifying and modelling forest performance at different scales. My current research is driven by three overarching objectives: i) understand the relationship between local environmental factors and climate at a broad scale in explaining tree productivity; ii) identifying the most important environmental factors at the local scale and how they influenced tree productivity, mortality and regeneration of Mediterranean oak woodlands; iii) creation of spatially explicit models that estimate the potential of natural regeneration at the local scale to be used by managers.
