ecologia biologia da conservacao diversidade funcional invertebrados
I received a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Lisbon in 2005 and I am currently working in the Tropical and Mediterranean Biodiversity group while leading the Laboratory for Integrative Biodiversity Research - LIBRe. I am a researcher of ecology at the University of Lisbon. My research focuses on ecology, conservation biology and functional diversity of invertebrates while having an interest in the development of novel methods and computational tools. For many years I have been involved in spider and insect conservation research using as model system islands, caves and other habitat types of special conservation concern. I was founder and chair of the Spider & Scorpion Specialist Group of the IUCN and involved in numerous conservation projects throughout the world. My current research is driven by three overarching objectives: automating extinction risk assessments, developing novel methods in functional ecology and studying and protecting island and cave environments and their inhabitants.
