science communication stakeholder engagement co-creation open science citizen science

I received a PhD in Biology and Plant Biotechnology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2013. I also hold a Master in Scientific, Medical and Environmental Communication (Barcelona School of Management/Pompeu Fabra University), and a Master in European Studies on Society, Science and Technology (Maastricht University), with a specialisation in Governance, Innovation and Sustainability (Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt). I work at cE3c since 2018 and my research focuses on the interplay between science, technology, society, and the environment.

Currently, I am responsible for the EU-funded project ENJOI (Engagement and Journalism Innovation for Outstanding Open Science Communication) in Portugal. In ENJOI, I act as an Open Science manager and researcher on the following topics: i) development of standards, principles, and indicators to define good practices in science journalism; ii) analysis of journalism narratives; iii) science-media relationship, and iv) creation and delivering of innovative tailor-made tools to promote critical thinking and foster media literacy of diverse stakeholders. Previously, I worked in the EU-funded project NEWSERA (Citizen Science as the New Paradigm for Science Communication), which aimed at co-designing effective communication strategies for citizen science projects through participatory workshops with representatives of the 4-helix of innovation (policymakers, industry, academia, civil society and the media). Also, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher and quality assurance manager in the EU-funded project PROSEU, where I was responsible for the Open Data strategy of the project and several research tasks within the PROSEU Living Labs in Portugal (i.e., co-creation activities with several stakeholders such as local communities and representatives of the industry sector).
