non-human primates past and present ethnoprimatology environmental history
I received a Ph.D. from the University of Bologna in 1997 (Physical Anyhropology) and in 2011 (History of Science) from the University of Pisa. I am currently working in the Center for Administration and Public Policies of the ISCSP University of Lisbon. I am a professor of some disciplines in the Faculty of Anthropology at the ISCSP-ULisbon of Lisbon. My research focuses on the interaction between human and non-human primates in the past and present (ethnoprimatology) and related topics. For many years I have been involved in the study of primate ecology, conservations and environmental history. I am coordinator of the Reserach Line of CAPP/ISCSP: Ategina: Environment and Anthropocene Narratives. The main objectives of my current research are: i) to assess the ecological role of exotic species, in particular non-human primates, in insular habitats; ii) to study the history of species introduction and their socio-ecological function in insular habitats; iii) to contribute to mitigate the conflicts between human and non-human primates.
