Bianca Gomes is conducting a Ph.D. in Sustainability Science by the University of Lisbon starting in 2022 within the DEM RG of cE3c. She is conducting the project “The impact of animals bedding material on the sustainability of poultry industry through a One Health perspective”, under the supervision of Ricardo Dias (cE3c), Celeste Simões (FMH) and Carla Viegas (ESTeSL). Bianca Gomes Ph.D. project aims are: To characterize the risk to the health of workers (fungal infection), the influence on animals productivity and indirectly the environmental impact of microbiological exposure in poultry pavilions its possible relationship with the different types of materials used in animals bedding.

 

Assess poultry farm stakeholders (farm managers and poultry farmers and veterinarians) perception and attitudes regarding microbial hazards and biosafety measures for risk prevention. This knowledge aims to improve risk communication, account for anticipated emergent concerns, and enhance stakeholder acceptance and sustainable commitment to recommended risk prevention initiatives.
