Development and Evolutionary Morphogenesis - DEM

Antonio Cordero

Researcher

Evo-devo Musculoskeletal patterning Vertebrate development and evolution Developmental transcriptomics

I received a PhD in Ecology and Evolution from Iowa State University in 2015. My PhD research aimed at connecting broad-scale evolutionary trends with underlying developmental processes, focusing mainly on musculoskeletal innovation and diversification of the turtle body plan. This work combined classical embryological and histological approaches with emerging transcriptomic techniques. Along these lines, my objective in DEM is to reconstruct transcriptional networks that underpin musculoskeletal pathologies in humans using the mouse laboratory system (AFM project DYSTRON-NET).
