General aim : The object of this study is to understand the bases of the formation of an intentional community and to establish a possible relationship with base elements that can contribute in the formation process of educators in the construction of a new vision of the world in which sustainability is the basis of actions and reflections necessary in the construction of a new paradigm. Thus, it seeks to ascertain what elements motivate the residents of these communities and how their personal experiences, built individually and collectively in the daily life of an intentional community, contain significant educational and that may be (or not) structuring of another society.

Specific objectives : • To know the characteristics, subjectivities and practices of people who deliberately sought to break with the current system by entering into alternative communities built collectively from clear purposes and intentions; • To verify if there are educational components aimed at the construction of a self-sufficient, healthy and balanced model built on sustainable development; • Understand the elements that influence man-nature relationships; • Identify the motivations that inspired / inspire the inhabitants of these communities to effect this change in their lives, from a personal and collective point of view; • To verify to what extent practices that connect the human being, with himself, with others and with the environment may be (or not) determinant in the development of the environmental conscience and the process of emancipation of the human being;
