Research in Aquatic Systems

Our group focus on biological processes and human-activity-associated problems in aquatic systems. We conduct multi-disciplinary research on the structure, function, resilience and management of a range of aquatic systems. We combine field research and laboratory experiments to understand the responses of aquatic species and communities to natural and human-induced environmental change. Main areas of expertise rest in the ecology of intermittent streams and in behaviour, evolution and communication in aquatic animals. Our expertise also extends to the improvement of tools for biological assessment and conservation management of aquatic systems.
