We study pollination and herbivory in pristine and invaded areas on islands of Madeira archipelago, identifying what species play key roles in ecosystem functioning in several habitats, assessing the vulnerability of threatened endemic specialists and evaluating the impacts of invasive species on community structure and composition, and on native species interactions. We are involved in faunistics, taxonomy and biodiversity research on some Angolan coleopteran. Moreover, we are assessing soil fauna richness and diversity patterns in the main Gorongosa National Park (Mozambique) habitat types (savannah, grassland and rainforest), relating them to biotic and abiotic factors and depicting associated ecological networks.
