Afonso Dinis is conducting a MSc in Conservation Biology by the University of Lisbon starting in 2018 within the Tropical and Meditteranean Biodiversity group of cE3c. He is conducting the project: Active or passive education? The best way of improving coexistence with jaguars and pumas in the Caatinga biome, under the supervision of Ana Rainho (FCUL) and Cláudia Campos (Instituto para a Conservação dos Carnívoros Neotropicais - Pró-Carnívoros). Afonso's MSc aims are 1) to understand which types of intervention have a better effect in increasing knowledge and changing attitudes and perceptions towards jaguars and pumas in school children and 2) which variables (demographic, socioeconomic, cultural) are more important in this context, in order to promote behaviours to improve coexistence with these species.
