Filipa Grilo is conducting a PhD in Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution (BIODIV doctoral program) by the University of Lisbon, starting in 2018, within the Conservation in Socio-Ecological Ecosystems (CSES) and the Ecology of Environmental Change (eChanges) research groups of cE3c. Her research is focused on urban ecology and ecological resilience. She aims to understand the links between structural and functional elements of green spaces with ecological resilience to a changing climate, in Mediterranean cities. Her supervisors are Professors Cristina Branquinho and Margarida Santos-Reis, from cE3c, and Professor Timon McPhearson from the Urban Systems Lab, of the New School of New York.
