Summary:
The Project intends to evaluate and propose remediation and fitoremediation measures for the soils surrounding a copper mine. Three topics are included:
1) Soil remediation: testing in the greenhouse and pilot plots several remediation ammendments, focusing on the cost/result budget.
2) Fitorremediation: using plants to accumulate or stabilize the metals in the soil.
3) Reforestation: testing species and locations for the construction of dust barriers and areas to plant trees to increase forest density in the area.
