Patrícia Tiago started in 2013 a Ph.D. in Biology, in Lisbon University. With the title “Improving citizen science observations for global biodiversity monitoring” and under the supervision of Professor Margarida Santos-Reis and Professor Henrique Miguel Pereira she is working with citizen science databases and she wants to understand what motivations participants have to collaborate, how these projects can increase global biodiversity knowledge and how to improve the data collected. From 2002 until 2013 she was working with environmental education and science dissemination in Lisbon Oceanarium and Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian and in 2009 was part of a team that created a Portuguese biodiversity database - http://www.biodiversity4all.org. Her research interests include involvement of people with science, specifically with biodiversity and biodiversity changes and science communication.
