Miguel Morgado Santos is conducting a Ph.D. in Ethology by the University of Lisbon starting in 2010 within the Evolutionary Genetics group of cE3c. He is conducting the project “A new approach to the understanding of the dynamics and evolutionary success of Squalius alburnoides complex: the role of behavior”, under the supervision of Maria João Collares-Pereira and Luís Vicente.  Miguel Morgado-Santos’ Ph.D. project aims are:

a) Assessing the role of hybrid female mate preferences in routing populations towards hybrid speciation;

b) Evaluating the role of oocyte allocation, fertilization rate and offspring survival in shaping the genomotype composition of S. alburnoides natural populations;

c) Assessing the role of mate choice in driving introgression between parental species.
