I received a Ph.D. in Ecology from the University of Lisbon in 2006 and I am currently leading the Climate Change Impacts, Adaptation and Modeling Research Group of cE3c. I am the national coordinator of the European ETC/CCA (Topic Centre on Climate Change impacts, vulnerability and Adaptation), which is a centre of thematic expertise contracted by the European Environment Agency (EEA) to support EU policy by gathering and improving information in the area of climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation across Europe. I’m also working in several European projects on climate change vulnerabilities and adaptation, including Impressions - Impacts and Risks from High-End Scenarios: Strategies for Innovative Solutions - and Placard - Platform for Climate Adaptation and Risk Reduction. My current is driven by three overarching objectives: i) testing and developing methodologies to assess biodiversity vulnerability to climate change, ii) developing integrated methodologies for climate change risks, vulnerabilities and adaptation assessments and iii) exploring ecosystem based adaptation options and their effectiveness in reducing vulnerability to global changes, focusing mainly in agro-forestry and urban systems.
