Before joining cE3c in September 2018, I did my PhD at Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon on habitat selection of Mediterranean stream fishes and the mechanisms underlying it. My first degree was in Terrestrial Biology at the same institution, and my MSc at Imperial College of London was on habitat associations of exploited fish species in the lower Amazon river-floodplain system. I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at MARE UL on the project ISOINVA Quantifying food web dynamics in invaded stream communities.

My research interests are focused in studying the effects of human impacts on species and ecosystems, particularly in freshwater ecosystems, which are one of the most endangered in the world. I am also interested in exploring social-ecological systems by addressing how people and the environment interact, and in managing these interactions to change human behaviour and hence slow biodiversity loss. Finally, I am passionate about organic farming of aromatic and medicinal plants.
