Forest Mycology Mycorrhizae Symbiosis Sustainability

Inês Ferreira is conducting a Ph.D. in Biology by the University of Lisbon starting in 2017 within the Plant-Soil Ecology group of cE3c. She is conducting the project “Diversity, distribution and hosts of Terfezia species:Developing novel tools and criteria for sustainable cultivation of an endogenous product”, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Cristina Cruz from cE3c, and the co-supervisor Dr. João Nunes, from Associação BLC3 - Campus de Tecnologia e Inovação. Inês Ph.D. project aim is to answer if stress-tolerant plant mycorrhizal associations can be a promising new strategy for soil reclamation and amelioration, and how it can be used forsustainable cultivation of desert truffles.
