Vegetation dynamics Restoration ecology Mediterranean ecosystems Quercus suber Montados
I am a plant ecologist with a PhD in Biology (University of Lisbon, 1995), working as a Researcher (Collaborator) in the Environmental Stress and Functional Ecology research group of cE3c. My current research focuses on the ecological restoration of Mediterranean limestone quarries. Other relevant research interests concern the ecology and sustainability of cork-oak woodlands. I have been involved in national and international projects concerning these subjects.
The main drivers of my research are the application of ecological knowledge to improve the efficiency of restoration actions, the identification of indicators of long-term restoration success and the multidisciplinary approach to study complex ecosystems (e.g. montados).
