I have a degree and a master in Environmental Engineering from the Faculty of Science and Technology of Universidade Nova de Lisboa. I am working as a researcher in climate change since 2006. From 2006 to 2009, the focus of my work was climate change mitigation, including climate change policies at national, European and International level, and carbon sequestration. In 2009, I joined the team that developed the Strategic Plan for Climate Change in Cascais, and my research interests widened to impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change. Since then, adaptation to climate change has been my main area of work: in 2011, I had the opportunity to start working on adaptation at European level, being a memeber of the European Topic Centre on Climate Change Impacts, vulnerability and Adaptation (ETC /CCA) and in the EU 7th Framework Programme project Climate Impact Research and Response Coordination for a Larger Europe (CIRCLE-2). In 2014, I participated in the development and elaboration of the adaptation strategy to climate change of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
Currently, I continue to work as member of the ETC/CCA and am also part of the Horizon 2020 project PLACARD (Platform for Climate Adaptation and Risk Reduction).
